Workshops and Seminars
Science communications for students
A multi-day workshop to work on oral communications skills. Students will learn how to communicate their data and the importance of their work in a concise manner. Students will learn to reduce the jargon and engage their audience that will result in stimulating (and memorable!) seminars.
How to write a personal statement
Whether it is for a summer internship, graduate/medical school, or a cover letter for employment, scientists need to understand how to develop a powerful personal statement. This statement is their chance to sell themselves and their work. It is the gateway to fulfilling a dream and future success. This one day workshop provides tips and techniques for writing a winning personal statement. Participants are expected to start developing a personal statement during the workshop.
Writing a scientific manuscript
The key to a successful scientific career in academia or industry is writing a winning manuscript or grant proposal. This workshop will walk through the components of a manuscript or grant proposal and discuss what reviewers are looking for when assessing the document. Hands-on exercises for writing papers and proposals will be conducted to provide relevant experiences for the student.
